Bakken, Fond du Lac County highway commissioner. "The spring weather season is rapidly approaching," said Bakken. "With the rise in temperature, the frost thaw will cause unstable road subbase. This change in temperature will cause roads to become more susceptible to failure under heavy loading." Bakken said single trip permits will be issued for loads exceeding statutory weight limitations. Consideration for issuance of a single trip permit will be route of travel and time of day.

Permits will not be issued for loads exceeding 10 feet in width or 16 feet in length for vehicle combinations for movement over county or state trunk highways. "Through this critical season, we request full cooperation in protecting the county and state trunk highways by not exceeding statutory vehicle and axle weight," said Bakken.
